My Fit Lifestyle challenge: week 2 update

My fitness buddy Laura and I were given a challenge to try out the new Tesco My Fit Lifestyle programme.

One week later we have both lost 2lb – so it’s working. Signing up online is an important first step as it means you are committing to being fitter and healthier. Inputting your weight and measurements provides a goal and gives you a clear target.

However, we both found the online food diary – which also logs how many of your five a day you are eating – is what keeps you on track. Within the allocated calorie allowance, which depends on your goal weight, you can mix and match as you like from the range of fresh, appetising, healthy meals and snacks, which come in >100, >200, >300, >400 and >500 bands.

Laura says: “My Fit Lifestyle is also quite motivating when it comes to exercise as you log how much you do, and I can claw some calories back by doing more.”

The Thai Chicken Curry, only 380 calories, is her favourite which she says “has just the right level of spice – and having the rice portion measured for me is great as I tend to be too generous”.

My favourite has to be the Asparagus, Pea and Spinach risotto which I cannot believe is only 235 calories and 2 of my 5-a-day. Eating more protein – and logging my water intake and therefore drinking more – makes me feel fuller. We’ve still got a huge range of other tasty snacks and meals to try over the next 11 weeks and we’ll continue to update you about which ones we like and how well we are doing.
