Wearing a tight black top, black leather trousers and huge heels, she looked unfazed sitting next to him at Regent Street’s Apple store.

She said the moment in the greenhouse when Campbell Bower’s character Jace shows her character Clary Fray how the flowers bloom every night at midnight had lived up to what she imagined when reading the scene in Cassandra Clare’s bestselling novel.

The pair are in town with fellow cast member Robert Sheehan and director Harald Zwart to promote the movie, which hits cinemas tomorrow (Wednesday).

Despite the split, Collins and Campbell Bower remain on amicable terms.

As a clip showing their characters’ first encounter was played, they mimed the dialogue at each other and could be seen chatting off microphone at times.

When quizzed about the tattoos he had to have painted all over his body for the role, Campbell Bower even joked that it if he were to get one in real life it would be an image of Collins’ face on his face.

The first instalment follows 15-year-old Clary as she discovers she has the powers of half angel, half-human beings called shadowhunters.

It has become one of the year’s most in demand books, reaching number eight on the New York Times bestseller list.

The film adaptation for the sequel - City Of Ashes - begins production next month and is due to be released in 2014.
