The FA are hoping for a late rush on ticket sales for England’s clash against Switzerland after a proposed Tube strike affecting travel to Wembley this week was cancelled.

It is understood that around 60,000 tickets had been sold as of this morning for tomorrow night’s Euro 2016 qualifier.

The FA believe that figure was affected by the prospect of strike action, although the RMT union suspended planned disruption to the Underground service last week.

England have already secured their place at next summer’s finals in France but the prospect of witnessing Wayne Rooney break Sir Bobby Charlton’s goalscoring record could convince some undecided supporters to attend the match.

Plans have already begun for Euro 2016, with the FA understood to have chosen their base and nearing the end of contractual negotiations.

It has been reported that England will be based in the luxury Auberge du Jeu de Paume hotel in Chantilly and the FA are expected to confirm their chosen venue soon.
