Good day everyone. My mom developed a macular degeneration a couple of months ago. We don't know exactly when this started to happen, but I have to say that I am really concerned about her, since she does live alone. I don't know how to help her because I don't know anyone who had this problem, that I can talk to him and catch some advice. There is one thing that I really want to know -  are there any supplements that could treat macular degeneration? How to treat it? I think that she would be really happy to find a good cure for this.

Hello darling. I am sorry to hear this. I hope that your mom is ok because this diagnoses can be pretty nasty. Sure, some of the supplements, or vitamins as a matter of a fact, can be really helpful. She should take more vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, beta-carotene, copper, etc. Those all are the things that might help her a lot. But of course, I believe that I don't need to tell you that she should consult someone who is going to make a good plan for her, doctor of course. I suppose that he told her more about this, once she was diagnosed with it?

Good day.

There are a couple of ways that you can choose for your macular degeneration treatment. Antioxidant vitamins and minerals can do the job. You should be focusing on taking vitamin E or beta-carotene supplements, but you also need to know that this vitamin will not prevent the onset of AMD in people who do not have signs of the condition, and that can happen. The same thing is with vitamin C and multivitamin tablets. Basically, you don't know how any type of cure will behave in your case and I am telling you this because you should not hope that much, before trying any of those therapies.

Hi there. My dad also developed a macular degeneration a few years ago. We did so many things to help him, so I have to say that I agree on this post. You have to try all the possible solutions until you see what is going to work. In my dads case, lutein was a great help, it was very important antioxidant for his eye health, I mean, generally, it is good for everyones eye health. If you are over 50, you should know that in your case, lutein supplement may be appropriate. My dad was taking a daily lutein intake of 6 up to 10 mg from a supplement is generally considered adequate and we saw some progress. He felt really good about this. Maybe you can try this one.

Hello everyone.

My ant had this issue, as she was getting older, her condition was worse. The doctor was against some supplements that some people were recommending it. He told that he was against this because he believed that it won't be able to help her since all of those supplements are synthetic.

So, he told her husband to stay focused on diet and natural supplements. She listened to him and she started to take care of her diet program and she tried to intake more of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from their diet. Guess what, it helped her, so I recommend this.

Good day.
I am aware that some supplements and vitamins won't work the same for everyone when it comes to this, but in my mom's case - it seems that nothing was working. She did everything that her friends, who had the same problem with it, told her, she did everything that her doctor told her, but nothing seems helpful. When I look at her, I think that her condition is getting worse. Is this because maybe doctor sets a wrong diagnose, maybe she needed some rougher treatment? Maybe he made a mistake... I don't know what to think :/

Hello, I have to say that I am really sorry to hear this, maybe in your moms case this macular degeneration developed so fast that doctors were not able to control or to follow it. Who knows. I can tell that, thanks to the advices that I got in here and of course, tnx to doctors help, my mom is way better now. I am not saying that she is perfect, but she is OK and she is getting better from this issue. All those vitamins and minerals helped her, and for now, we don't have any need to use some other supplements in order to heal her.

I don't know what to tell you, as soon as we saw that there is something wrong with her, as soon as she told us that her vision is different, we went to see a doctor and that is not someone who is new to us, it is a doctor that we visit for a years now, and so far we never had similar issues. So, it is hard for me to believe that he made a mistake, but it has been three weeks now and she is getting worse, she is not 1 percent better than this day when we went to see a doctor. Maybe she needs some other supplements, maybe she needs some injections, because I was reading something about this, I don't know. Is it ok for me to ask this a doctor?

Look, you don't have to be scared what your doctor has to tell you about this, you have a right to ask him whatever you want to know and you should ask him for those injections. Maybe those injections will be able to help your mom, at least for a while. I know one lady who had a lot of success with those injections and I also do believe that her issue was worse day after day. So, no one can't blame you because you are seeking for the best options for your mom. Don't worry, she will be OK, you will find the soltuion. Good luck!
