Syracuse Mets game canceled Thursday night due to severe thunderstorm

The Syracuse Mets’ game against the Rochester Red Wings was canceled Thursday night because of a severe thunderstorm in Central New York.

Thursday’s game would have been the third game of a six-game home series against Rochester. The Mets won the first game, 6-5, on Tuesday and the second game, 7-6, on Wednesday. The game will not be made up.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for most of Upstate New York, from the Finger Lakes to the Vermont border, on Thursday night. It’s in effect until 9 p.m.

The series between Syracuse and Rochester will continue Friday at 6:35 p.m. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

Fans with tickets for Thursday’s postponed game may redeem those tickets for any other Syracuse Mets home game at NBT Bank Stadium for one calendar year from Thursday’s date. Seating is subject to availability, and tickets can be redeemed at the Syracuse Mets Ticket Office or by calling 315-474-7833.
