Longtime Syracuse radio host dies: Longtime Central New York radio host Becky Palmer, shown in 2008 at B104.7, has died after a battle with cancer. She was 68. Palmer, whose career also included time on-air at WHEN and WKFM, spent more than two decades at B104.7, including 11 years co-hosting “Tom & Becky” in the morning until their retirement in 2019. The sordid history behind that massive, mysterious mansion atop the tallest hill in Baldwinsville: For almost a century, Applecrest, the sprawling mansion at sitting atop the tallest point in Baldwinsville, has been an object of curiosity. Built by a couple who fell in love with its hilltop location, neighbors gawked and gossiped about the elegant estate during its construction in the early 1920s. It later fell into the hands of an enigmatic artist and socialite, who used the home to entertain dignitaries from around the world. He surrounded himself with young followers, some of whom would later compare him to a cult leader.

A big get for SU basketball: Syracuse got a big commitment on Monday. Really big. Naheem McLeod, a 7-foot-4, 255-pound center who is transferring after two years at Florida State, has committed to play for the Orange. McLeod poses a massive interior presence on both ends of the court and provides a potential answer for the departure of Syracuse’s starting center Jesse Edwards, who transferred to West Virginia last month.

SU football team adds three new players: Junior college prospect Berry Buxton III, a defensive back who played two seasons at Santa Barbara City College, became the third new player landed by the Syracuse football team on Monday. He joins offensive lineman David Wohlabaugh Jr. and Jakobie Seabourn, who committed earlier in the day.
