Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse football has added Dartmouth-cornerback transfer Isaiah Johnson, gaining another expected contributor to its defensive backfield for the 2022 season.

Johnson announced his commitment Monday on social media.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Johnson, a Beverly Hills, Michigan native, is coming off a year in which he recorded 55 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, to go with six pass breakups, seven passes defended against and an interception.

He earned first-team All-Ivy League honors in a bounce-back year after the 2020 Ivy League season was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic and Johnson’s 2019 season was limited to two games as a result of injury.

Johnson, a graduate transfer, has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Colorado, Miami (Ohio), Tulane and UMass were among the other schools to have offered once Johnson entered the transfer portal in December.

Johnson is the sixth transfer addition to the roster this offseason. The previous five who have enrolled at the midyear are on campus to participate in winter workouts and spring practice drills.
