New York has a number of new boat launches and fishing access sites in “varying stages of development” across the Upstate area this year.
Projects are on scheduled on Otisco Lake in Onondaga County to Bear Lake in Chautauqua County, along with several in the Adirondacks.
“Under Governor Cuomo's Adventure NY Initiative, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is making strategic investments to expand access to healthy, active outdoor recreation, connect more New Yorkers and visitors to nature and the outdoors, protect natural resources, and boost local economies,” DEC said in written statement. “These boat launches and fishing access sites are in varying stages of development– from completed design to near completion – using NY Works and Environmental Protection Fund Stewardship funding.”
The projects listed below include the budgeted cost and estimated completion date.
DEC Region 5:
*Lake Champlain/Westport boat launch - $225,000; November 2019
*Lake Placid boat launch - $300,000; June 2019
*Fourth Lake boat launch – $300,000; November 2019
DEC Region 6:
*Cranberry Lake Boat Launch Site (ADA improvements – accessible launch for canoes and kayaks) - $45,000; June 2019
DEC Region 7:
*Mudlock Canal Park FAS (Reconstruction) - $500,000; July 2019
*Oneida Lake South Shore FAS (Paving entrance to boat launch)- $175,000; June 2019
*Oneida Lake North Shore / Cleveland docks - $1,000,000; November 2020
*Otisco lake boat launch construction - $800,000; December 2019
DEC Region 9:
*Bear Lake Fishing Access Site (reconstruction – ADA access route and floating docks) - $100,000 ; May 2019
*Ohio Street Boat Access Site (house demolition, construction of parking lot) - ) $74,000; This was completed July 2018
