Inside the royal wedding of Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg: an Elie Saab gown, diamond tiara – and ties to the Middletons

A week after the civil service, it was a religious royal wedding for Princess Alexandra and Nicolas Bagory in Bormes-les-Mimosas

The Luxembourg Chaumet Choker Tiara can be worn, as the name suggests, as both a necklace and a diadem. Acquired during the reign of Alexandra’s grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, the piece was worn by her grandmother, Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte, and is now a favourite of her mother, Grand Duchess Marie-Teresa, The Court Jeweller reports. The tiara features a lattice design in diamonds and can be topped by a band of pearls. Princess Alexandra, however, preferred to keep it as a strictly diamonds. The bride has worn the piece on a number of previous occasions, so it made the perfect choice for her big day.

Alexandra is an active working member of the Luxembourg royal family and a professional linguist. She is currently seventh in the line of succession, following her eldest brother Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, his two-year-old son Prince Charles and his newborn son Prince François; and her brother Prince Félix and his children, Princess Amalia and Prince Liam. Following Alexandra is her younger brother, Prince Sébastien. Notably, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess’s third son, Prince Louis, is not in line to the throne; the prince relinquished his claim to the crown before marrying Tessy Antony de Nassau, a commoner, in 2006. The couple welcomed two sons, Prince Gabriel and Prince Noah before divorcing in 2019.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa will be among the foreign royals at the Coronation of King Charles III on 6 May.
