What new features will there be in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7?
The new Galaxy Watch 7 comes in the traditional two display sizes – 40mm and 44mm – with colour-schemes tied to one or the other. You can get the 40mm variant in Green or Cream liveries, while the 44mm model comes in Green or Silver.
Design-wise, Samsung has slightly refined the look this year, with a minimalist aluminium chassis replacing the stainless steel one in the Galaxy Watch 6. You still get the two control buttons on the right flank as normal, plus the interchangeable straps.
Most of the updates are internal though, as the Watch 7 is the first to boast a 3nm chip in a wearable device, with the Exynos W1000 processor stated to be 3x faster than the one in the Watch 6.
It also sees some serious upgrades to the health monitoring capabilities. This is the first Samsung Watch to come with four sensors that can track your heart rate (ECG), blood pressure, bioelectrical impedance analysis, as well as your blood oxygen levels.

Sleep monitoring is improved, as is the general fitness tracking, all aided by the enhanced BioActive sensor that Samsung says now has more LEDs to improve its accuracy and offer more comprehensive readings.
Runners and other outdoor sports enthusiasts will benefit from the dual-frequency GPS tracking system that will improve the precision of the onboard tracking, making sure you get credited for all your exertions.

The Galaxy Watch 7 will also be the first model to come with Wear OS 5, and it brings with it some additional features for those who use a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
The Better Together ecosystem offers the ability, when the Watch 7 is paired to a Galaxy phone – including the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 – to control features such as stop a timer, answer a phone call, take a picture or play/pause music with a double pinch gesture. New Suggested Replies to messages are generated on the phone using Galaxy AI, then relayed to the Watch from which you can send them without ever having to touch your phone.
If you go one step further and connect the newly launched Galaxy Ring to the Watch 7, then not only will you preserve the former’s battery life by up to 30% (as it need to take fewer heart rate measurements), the combination will also provide greater accuracy for both with AI collating the data from each.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is available to order now from Samsung, and looks to be a solid upgrade on the model it replaces. We’ll have a full review available very soon, so you can see how the new features perform.
