Anthony Hopkins sells his $11.5m seafront Malibu mansion a year after it was miraculously untouched by wildfire
ANTHONY Hopkins' beachfront Malibu mansion that miraculously survived the 2018 wildfires has gone up for sale for a cool $11.5million.
The clifftop home overlooking Santa Monica Bay was left unscathed while the house next door was incinerated.
The Remains of the Day actor, 82, bought the sprawling home in 2001 for $3.8million but now wants to live closer to downtown Los Angeles, according to reports.
Built in 1958, the massive property boasts a roomy 4,010 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms and a guest house with its own bed and bathroom.
It overlooks the Pacific Ocean coastline and Catalina Island from its perch atop the Point Dume Bluff.
The beautiful ocean views can be seen from every room, as well as the master bedroom's sauna.
The gated home has two fireplaces too - one in the living room and one in the family room.
There is also an in-ground pool, spa, a pool house and a garden with big trees that also survived the wildfire.
The cabana was allegedly used by Anthony as an art room.
The home has a massive two-care garage with 44,910 square feet to house your vehicles.
Inside, one of the rooms had large open doors that not only showed the ocean, but also let in a lot of natural sunlight, and multiple skylights as well.
The kitchen has light maple wood cabinetry - and some open shelving - with stainless steel appliances and plenty of storage space.
It also has a cozy nook with a bay window where you can put a breakfast table and enjoy a meal with the gorgeous view, as well as French doors that lead out to the cliffside garden and some fresh sea air.
The home has hardwood floors and large windows throughout and a cheeky little spiral staircase.
The hardwood floors are darker in the living room with its large white stone and wooden accent fireplace - perfect for those cool Malibu nights.
The master bathroom has a large blue-tiled shower with a modern tub - also with multiple windows displaying the ocean views.
The sale comes 15 months after the November 2018 Woolsey fire destroyed the house next door, but didn't so much as stain Hopkins' bright white property.
The neighbor's home was completely leveled by the flames, and can be seen in a recent aerial shots completely cleared out and in the process of being rebuilt.
The fire ignited on November 8, 2018, in Woolsey Canyon on the Santa Susana Field Laboratory property, which belongs to Boeing, in the Santa Susana Mountains.
The Santa Ana winds pushed the fire South and went through the Santa Monica Mountains, reaching film sets, ranches and celebrity homes in the Malibu area.
It scorched more than 96,949 acres, destroyed 1,643 structures and killed three people throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
