Jimmy Johnson’s Fox NFL Sunday studio absence explained as Michael Strahan and Terry Bradshaw cheer announcement
JIMMY Johnson has missed the most recent episode of Fox NFL Sunday — but for a very good reason.
On Sunday, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced the legendary head coach would be inducted into his team's Ring of Honor this year.
Johnson, 80, joined Jones, 81, at a special press conference in North Carolina before Dallas beat the Carolina Panthers 33-10.
That's when the Cowboys owner surprised the Fox NFL Sunday analyst with the news, although he hilariously confused the dates.
"On December the 30th of 1923, you’re going into the Dallas Cowboy Ring of Honor," Jones said.
Johnson, a giant smile on his face, grabbed his ex-boss' arm and said: "I hope it’s 2023."

The two then briefly touched on his conflict with Jones toward the end of his Cowboys tenure — which is believed to have played a role in Johnson's omission in Dallas' Ring of Honor of years — saying they're back on good terms.
The Fox NFL Sunday panelists congratulated their co-star on earning the great honor.
"Jimmy, Jerry, your Cowboys and Cowboys nation, the family, the city of Dallas, and all those around the country — and Cowboys fans around the world — this is a great moment for all of them," Terry Bradshaw said.
"As it is for all of us here at Fox."

Bradshaw, Michael Strahan, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, and Rob Gronkowski then gave Johnson a round of applause.
And the head coach-turned-sportscaster ended the touching segment shouting: "How about them Cowboys!"
Johnson has already been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, formally receiving the recognition in August 2021.
The Texas native led Dallas to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1992 and 1993.
The following year, he parted with the franchise amid his worsening relationship with Jones and joined the Fox NFL Sunday cast.
Johnson left the show to take the Miami Dolphins head coaching job in 1996 before reuniting with Fox Sports three years later.
