I deal with a lot of artists. I tell all of them:
"Write a song and come back to it in 5 years. You can write songs and release them now, but write a LOT and then come back to some of them 5-10 years later. If they are any good, they will still be hot and relevant".
They play BBD's "Poison" on 104 at least twice every day here. And that song was released 34 years ago. When Ben E King released Stand By Me, my mother was 5 years old. 25 years later I heard it for the first time when I was 9 years old with the release of the Stand by Me film and I had no idea the song was that old, but I loved it. Great music is great music regardless of how old it is.
