Kandi Kay Anderson (Allison), 59, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away Jan. 19, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. At her request, a private family service will be held at a later date.
The daughter of Richard and Carol Anderson, she was born June 9, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kandi graduated from Tipton High School in 1979 and attended Kirkwood College. Her working career included various roles in the Cedar Rapids School District, being the volunteer coordinator at Brucemore in Cedar Rapids, and most recently working at Tipton Community School District. She generously gave her time for many causes, including as a Hospice Care volunteer.
Kandi had a passion for the outdoors, including gardening and hiking. Her flower gardens were second to none and enjoyed by many. She had a special talent for decorating and event planning and loved sharing these talents with others. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Kandi is survived by her fiance, Mike Gritton of Tipton, Iowa; sons, Derek Allison of Marion, and Lance (Sasha) Anderson of Cedar Rapids; her father, Richard Anderson; sister, Tina (Jim) Jorgensen; brother, Scott (Karen) Anderson, all of Tipton; nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.
Kandi was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the APG Foundation, at www.apgfoundation.org/donors/. This foundation helps to support Iowa residents who receive cancer treatment in Linn and Johnson counties and need financial assistance to help cover their medical expenses.
