I spent a few days at the Movara Fitness Resort in Ivins, Utah (which is just outside of St. George) back in February. I love hiking and exercising and was looking forward the challenge, but I was also a little bit nervous.
My nervousness quickly faded away as soon as I got there. The resort was beautiful and the staff was so kind and welcoming. We joined in with several guests who had already been there a few days. We literally jumped right in and joined them in their daily activities.
We started the day with breakfast and then headed over to a stretch/abdominals class to kick off the morning. Then we headed off in the vans to spend the next couple of hours on one of several hikes that are in the local area.
The hikes are sorted into various levels of beginner through advanced and ranging from 3 to 8 miles. So we were able to pick a hike that we felt comfortable with and go with a group and the fun hike guides who work at Movara.
I love hiking and the landscape surrounding the entire area is so beautiful and unique! Every hike offered gorgeous landscapes and views. It was fun hiking and getting to know the others in the group.
After finishing the hikes, we headed back to the resort for lunch. After lunch the resort offers some cooking classes where their chef shows you how they create some of their delicious recipes. Speaking of the food, it was amazing. We were given 1200 calories a day. At first I was worried I was going to be starving, but the food was amazing and I felt surprisingly full and satisfied. I was really impressed. I came home with a few of their recipes that I want to share here with you later!
After the cooking class, we had the choice between a few different exercise classes over the next couple of hours. Anything from Zumba, interval training, strength training and a pool fitness class. Those two hours of exercise were finished with a LOVELY stretching class.
After the stretch class, we headed to dinner. After dinner they would offer some more classes where you would learn about emotional eating and strategies to help break the cycle of emotional eating. I learned so much in this class and was surprised to find that I myself had a few of the same tendencies. It was interesting to learn about the emotional cycle and learn some strategies to counteract it.
On the weekend, for our hike we took a trip out to Zion National Park. It was pouring rain and it was absolutely beautiful. Due to the rain, there were waterfalls everywhere running off the red rock! It was amazing!
Movara also did a full body analysis using an InBody Scan. It has really motivated me to get into better shape. I feel like I learned some really valuable information and really enjoyed the whole experience. How fun would it be to spend a couple weeks just working on improving your health and your fitness surrounded by an amazing staff. I could have gotten used to having a healthy personal chef create delicious and healthy meals for me everyday!
If you are looking for a Fitness Resort, I would highly recommend Movara Fitness Resort! I would go back in a heart beat if I could! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it!
