Zelenskyy hopeful 'symbolic' meeting with Trump will lead to ceasefire as US President leaves Rome
The Ukrainian president said the two leaders discussed a “full and unconditional ceasefire” and a “reliable and lasting peace”.
It is the first face-to-face meeting between the two men since Trump and Vice President JD Vance berated Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in February.
White House communications director Steven Cheung called the meeting "a very productive discussion".
Zelenskyy is also holding meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
