Tips on how to cook the perfect green beans side dish
Here are my top tips to make sure that your green beans in oyster sauce and garlic have the optimum flavor without overcooking the green beans.
- Sautée your garlic until it is golden and infused in oil and by doing so, you can make sure that your green beans will be submerged in a sauce packed with flavor.
- Stir fry your green beans in your sauce concoction just a few minutes before serving. This ensures green beans crispiness and avoids overcooking (because overcooked greens are narly, let’s avoid that shall we?)
- Top your green beans in oyster sauce and garlic with roasted sesame seeds for more flavor!

With what to pair this side dish?
I’m a simple person when it comes to food despite being a chef for a decade. I personally do not like spending too much time in the kitchen to whip up an elaborate dinner spread so my choice always should be packed with flavor, minimal prep time, and filling. My dinner guests are never disappointed (my biggest fans are usually under the age of 12, can’t really trust their judgments but I’ll take whatever I get).
Here are some viands I usually like to serve with my green beans in oyster sauce side dish:
- Chicken adobo (Filipino stew)
- Steamed white rice
- Cajun roast chicken
- Filipino Bistek
- Roast pork sirloin
- Roast sour cream topped salmon
