A Travel Themed Destination Wedding at Na 'Aina Kai Botanical Gardens on the island of Kauai, Hawaii
Bailey Wieden (31, a yacht stewardess) and Adam O’Sullivan (30, a yacht engineer) met while they were working on luxury yachts docked in Italy. They kept it touch while their travels took them to different destinations around the world. One year later, they made plans to meet in Barcelona for a music festival and have stayed together ever since. The couple took time off from work and rented out a cabin in Mammoth Lakes, California for a month of skiing and snowboarding. Bailey’s parents and sister came to the cabin on the weekends, and one day they all went to the summit to get a group picture. Bailey’s sister suggested the couple get a photo together, and as Bailey turned to Adam he was down on one knee. Thinking it was for the photo, Bailey got down on one knee, too! The couple got married at the Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens on the island of Kauai, Hawaii where Bailey’s parents had gotten married. The couple wanted to have a travel themed wedding, not only because they travel a lot within their profession, but also friends and family had to travel to get to their wedding. Old Hawaiian postcards were used as save-the-dates and white invitations were designed to resemble boarding passes. Bailey wore a strapless ivory wedding dress with a sweetheart cut and a train in the back, and the groom wore a tan vest with matching pants and a blue tie. They didn’t end up picking a strict color palette for the wedding day, but rather hints of blue here and there along with burlap decor that allowed the natural environment to do the work for them.
