Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, mocked Jonathan Majors, Will Smith, and Sam Smith, but fans weren't snickering along with him.

The rapper took the stage at the BET Awards and said: "I have more Grammys than Will Smith, but I have the same amount of BET Awards as Sam Smith. Does that make sense to y'all? If I have to do a Baby Boy remake let me know, I'll have Jonathan Majors put me in headlock."

The internet responded with mixed reactions. "His music don’t hit like that," one said, indicating that he doesn't have the right status to be making those sort of jokes. Others were convinced that Will Smith was going to react with another slap.

"Will Smith tryna repent for slapping Chris Rock last year," wrote one on X, formerly known as Twitter. Another said, "Lord I hope Will don’t go up there and smack Childish Gambino." Fans didn't find the whole ordeal funny. "a Jonathan Majors joke?? are we serious right now?? that was completely unnecessary," one wrote. "Jonathan Majors?? TOO SOON, literally read the room!!!" another exclaimed.

Jonathan Majors has become a controversial figure in entertainment after he was found guilty of third-degree assault and harassment in December 2023. The disgraced actor was arrested in March 2023, facing four charges at the time. The final decision came following three days and four hours of deliberation by the jury.

The Marvel actor was caught on video shoving his then girlfriend Grace Jabbari into a car. Later, police body cam footage showed her slumped in a closet with injuries when they arrived on scene, responding to a call. Photographs also depicted injuries behind her ear and on her fingers.

Following the verdict, Jabbari's lawyer Brittany Henderson said: "Justice has been served by today’s verdict. We are thankful to the jury, the court, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office for giving this case the time and attention that it merits.

"Today has shown us that no abuser, no matter how powerful they may seem, is above the law. Ms. Jabbari has shown irrefutable strength and poise while being forced to relive, both in court and very publicly, the abuse she was subjected to."

"Her unwavering resolve to see this case through to the end is borne out of a desire to show other survivors and victims of domestic violence, that they too, can hold their abuser accountable. Ms. Jabbari hopes that her actions will inspire other survivors to speak out and seek justice."

Jonathan was joined in court by his girlfriend, Meagan Good. The actress was also in attendance at the BET Awards as Donald delivered the joke. While he wasn't pictured or shown on TV, it's believed Jonathan Majors was in the audience as well.
