IMPHAL, Mar 6 : Feature film “Apaiba Leichil” has been selected to be screened in the 18th International Film Festival of Thrissur at Kerala.
“Apaiba Leichil”--Flurry Clouds--will be screened across 5 Inox screens tomorrow.
“Apaiba Leichil” is adapted from Rajmani Ayekpam’s story “Nungsitombi” and it tells about the love life of a transgender and issues trans people face.
The film is directed by Bobby Wahengbam and produced by H Sobhananda Bung Sharma, W Tomba and Bobby Wahengbam.
The film is partly financed by StartUp Manipur under project Cinementor.
Notably, at the 5th Sailandhar Baruah Film Award 2023, actor Bishesh was given the Special Jury Award for acting.
For the film, Bishesh was also awarded Best Actor (Transgender) in State Awards.
Among other achievements, the film had also won the Best Editor and Jury Mentioned awards.
The film features Bishesh, Arun Yumnam, Naoba, Nirmala, Jenny, Rohit and Geeta in leading roles and Nonglen Luwang and Reshmina showing stints in special appearances.
Significantly, the film has been invited to the Kashish International Queer Film Festival, to be held in Mumbai in July. The IFFT, which kicked off from March 3 will wrap up on March 9. Romi Meitei’s “Eikhoigi Yum” was screened in the festival on March 5. A total of 70 films selected from 30 countries will be screened in the festival.
