IMPHAL, Sep 2 : CWC-Nungoi amassed 21 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals to emerge the overall team champions of the 42nd State Age Group Athletics Championship organised by the Athletics Association of Manipur at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
PRSC-Pourabi finished overall runners up with 14 gold, 15 silver and 10 bronze medals. The day saw CWC secure as many as 12 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals to leave PRSC way behind them.
Today's Highlight
5000 m race
HYC's Kh Joychandra claimed the men's 5000 m race title as completed the race in 16:41.85 while Rosan of LSA (17:52.63) and Kh Roshan of KNSAA (17:54.76) secured the silver and bronze medals respectively.
T Sophia of KNSAA (21:17.89) and S Mahen of CWC (17:49.89) were able to seal the U-20 girls and U-20 boys' titles respectively.
3000 m race
Kh Zaved Hussain of LSA won the U-18 boys' 3000 m gold medal registering best time of 9:33.03 while CWC's K Somorjit (9:40.69) and A Marikho of MSC (9:47.94) finished second and third.
In the U-18 girls competition, Khalida Mastan of LSA took 12:33.34 to win the gold while Kh Pushparani of HYC (14:17.59) and Kh Aruna Devi of ISA (14:52.24) settled for the second and third places.
2000 m race
W Joshita of HYC (8:01.47), M Linthoingambi of KNSAA (8:06.57) and N Deniya (8:25.03) secured the top three places in the U-16 girls 2000 m race as L Kalanjoy of HYC (6:22.07) , H Jeeverson of HYC (6:25.28) and L Bikashnanda of KNSAA (6:37.82) won the boys' gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
600 m race
Kh Bikash of ISA ran 1:32.04 to secure the U-14 boys' 600 m race title as Ch Farish of LSA (1:35.43) and Th Macmillan of HYC (1:37.82) settled for the silver and the bronze medals.
Huidrom Sanjana of Ideal Club took 2 minutes 0.90 seconds to seal the U-14 girls' gold as HYC's L Neevia (2:04.01) and AMESSCO's H Rina (2:05.72) bagged the silver and the bronze medals respectively.
200 m race
Sandip Dutta of CWC muscled his way to clinch the 200 m race title for men in 22.85 seconds today. Finishing second in this competition was PRSC's T Johnson who took 23.39 seconds while Anilkumar Irungbam of CWC finished third in 23.59.
Md Donald Khan of MMC (22.62s) and Md Aziz Khan Mughal of LSA (23.74s) respectively earned the 200 m race titles for the U-20 and U-18 boys category while Kanishka M of SSU (27.01s) and Y Babysana of PRSC (30.21s) were able to claim the U-20 and U-18 girls' titles.
800 m race
N Tokyo of HYC sealed the men's 800 m race title as he clocked 2:05.08. His compatriot M Milankumar took 2:08.69 to secure the silver medal while Ngachanso Ngalung of PRSC  managed to win the bronze by taking 2:12.90.
CWC's L Velenda (2:49.64) and T Shila (2:57.99) sealed the U-16 and U-20 girls gold medals in the same event as Md Abulkalam of LSA (2:13.00), W Delson of CWC (2:11.13) and N Alex of CWC (2:06.51) topped the U-16, U-18 and U-20 boys competitions.
Hurdles
Kh Rojesh of PRSC won the U-16 boys 80 m hurdles gold in 11.93 as N Manikhomba of PRSC won the U-20 boys 110 m gold in 15.36.
Long Jump
L Mangalsana of ISA secured the men's long jump title this edition with a 5.87 m finish while S Samananda of PYNK managed the silver with 5.40 m.
The best result came in the U-20 boys competition with I Kangbinganba of RAU recording an impressive jump of 6.30 m as L Apu of ISA (5.33 m) and W Sunanda of KNSAA (4.67 m) finished second and third.
M Meethoinganba of PRSC (5.42 m), H Shanker of PYNK (5.75 m) and L Rakesh of KNSAA (5.98 m) secured gold medals in the U-14, U-16 and U-18 boys competitions.
L Bembem of PRSC in the meantime won the women's open gold medal with a 3.88 m finish while CWC's Bijaya Seram (3.73 m) and Thongam Ashalata of PRSC (3.20 m) finished second and third.
The U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20 girls titles went to Kh Lanchenbi of ISA (3.25 m), Linthoi Khullem of LSA (2.96 m), A Anjita of CWC (4.99 m) and S Nganthoi of MSC (4.69 m).
Javelin Throw
K Samson of PYNK was crowned the men's champion in the javelin throw competition as he recorded the best throw of 54.48 m maintaining a gap of 9.29 m from the second placed Kh David of HYC (45.19) and 15.83 m away from the third placed S Sanajaoba of KNSAA (38.65 m).
O Avinash of PYNK (43.74 m), Ch Jackson of CWC (44.61 m) and N Rohit of KNSAA (40.50 m) were able to seal gold medals in the U-16, U-18 and U-20 boys' competitions.
Hammer Throw
M Devaraj Luwang of CWC was able to clinch the men's hammer throw gold medal with a 32.50 m finish as S Sanajaoba of KNSAA settled for the silver medal with 20.83 m.
Y Vikash of ISA (19.34 m) and L Sanathoi Meitei of ISA (21.81 m) in the meantime secured the U-18 and U-20 hammer throw titles.
Walking race
Kh Kupi of ISA was able to win the 3 km U-16 girls walk race with a time of 23 minutes and 30.35 seconds as W Borish of PRSC sealed the U-16 boys 5 km event gold in 31:09.39.
In the 5 km walk for U-18 girls, Th Nigita of CWC finished on top by recording a 34:55.15 finish as L Bidesh of MSC secured the 10 km U-18 boys competition gold in 1:6:33.
Th Devit of ISA took 1:08:41 to win the U-20 boys 10 km event title while Md Zamir Ahmed of HYC sealed the men's 10 km title with the same finish.
Ball Throw
Rohit of HYC won the ball throw gold medal for U-14 boys category with 72.86 m throw as Kh Yohenba of ISA and Bhairav of KNSAA secured the silver and bronze medals with 64.47 m and 60.55 m finishes.
High Jump
Sandip Dutta of CWC soared the highest 1.79 m in the men's high jump competition as L Mangalsana of ISA finished second with a 1.75 m finish.
L Tomcruise of PYNK (1.50 m), H Shanker of PYNK (1.70 m), H Kennedy of ISA (1.50 m) and Satyam Gaur of CWC (1.60 m) fetched the gold medals in the U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20 boys competitions.
S Nganthoi of MSC in the meantime sealed the U-20 girls title clearing 1.35 m.
