Woman dies after large fire at East Kilbride block of flats sees mercy crews tackle flames through the night
A PENSIONER has died after a blaze at a block of flats in East Kilbride saw fire crews tackle flames through the night.
The fire broke out at Sadlers Wells Court at around 10.30pm last night.
Five fire engines raced to the scene and firefighters were still in attendance this morning.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that one appliance was still there.

And Police Scotland say the body of a 65-year-old woman was found.
A probe is to be launched to establish how the fatal fire started.
A spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of a fire at Sadlers Wells Court in East Kilbride at around 10.30pm on Thursday January 23.
"The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the body of a 65-year-old woman was found in the property.

"A post-mortem will take place in due course.
"A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue will be held to establish the exact cause of the fire."
