Very poor a waste of money and a waste of a nice day

Its hard for me to find anything nice to say about Heydon Grange. It was a lovely warm September day, a bit windy for golf but I was looking forward to playing at the Cambridgeshire course. Wow what a disappointment. The course is very poorly signed so easy to miss which I did. We played the Cambs & Herts courses. Well after you had played four holes you had seen it all. Thick rough up to and beyond your knees, poorly kept fairways and greens that were like concret.
The bunkers had more stones than sand in them. All in all very disappointing. I paid £35 on a DGA society day, I shall not be returning!

Needs attention

Couldn't find anybody in the pro shop/club house which wasn't a great start! Once out, the Herts 9 is quite poor, in desperate need of attention, however the Cambs 9 was in pretty good nick. Can't complain, £12.50 for weekend golf is pretty good. (From what I could see the Essex 9 is more akin to Cambs rather than Herts which would make a good 18). The whole place was like a ghost town - shame on a weekend. Very open course and therefore the wind is so strong most of the time

27 to choose from

Heydon Grange has 3 x 9 holes for a mix and match round - I picked the Cambs and Herts. Course fairly open, but made tricky by catching any wind all along the top of the ridge. Fairways very dry and firm (probably same as most courses in this hot weather), but greens were excellent and obviously well looked after. Stony bunkers need a bit of sorting out, but overall good value for money with 18 holes costing £15 and a day ticket at the bargain price of £20.
