HONG KONG: Cantopop “Heavenly Kings” Andy Lau Tak-wah and Aaron Kwok Fu-shing narrowly escaped injury after stage mishaps during their separate concerts in Hong Kong and Taipei, respectively, on Friday night.

Lau, 63, left fans screaming his name in horror after they saw him slip at the edge of a three-metre-tall platform at Hung Hom Coliseum. After pausing for a few seconds, Lau continued performing.

It was reported that during his performance this evening, Lau inadvertently stumbled and fell on stage, leading to a moment of shock for spectators.

The incident unfolded as he rushed towards the front of the stage, tripping and falling with his knees hitting the ground, his head extending beyond the edge of the platform.

Lau later posted on his social media account at about 2am to assure fans he was all right.

“Dear family, I am fine. Thank you for your love. See you in my dreams,” he wrote.

It is not the first time that Lau has encountered a similar stage mishap.

During concerts in Shenzhen and Shanghai, he also fell near the platform edge and slipped in a hole in the middle of the stage. But as the professional that he had always been, he recovered and continued on with this performances.

Meanwhile, Kwok also experienced a frightening incident during his concert at Taipei Arena.

The first of three scheduled performances drew major excitement from fans, but the atmosphere turned tense when Kwok accidentally fell off the stage mid-performance.

Footage shared on social media captured the moment, revealing Kwok stepping backwards without realising that the stage platform had not elevated as expected.

Fortunately, the singer reacted quickly, using his arm to shield himself from the edge of the stage, preventing any serious injury, particularly to his head.

Fans expressed their concerns online, with many relieved that Kwok appeared to be unharmed. - Agencies
