Interior Design Process: Phase Two

Interior Schematic Design

Phase 02 of our Interior Architecture Process focuses on schematic design. In this phase we will further explore room layouts of the home's primary spaces. Starting with the most complex areas like kitchens and bathrooms, we begin to draw through some rough massing studies and basic floor plans. These initial studies allow us to understand the basic forms and how they will affect your family's daily use of the space and your circulation throughout the future home.

What To Expect

Our first presentation during the Interior Schematic Design Phase will propose layouts for kitchens, bathrooms, and any other complex areas of the home. These space-planning diagrams will provide minimal detail as the goal is to simply study how you will move through, and interact with, the space.

Once you have approved the basic layouts, we will explore materials based on your preferences from the previous phase. Our team will study cost, specifications, durability, and installation methods for each material and will then curate a collection of physical material samples that you and your family can see and feel.

What We Need

The Interior Schematic Design Phase cannot conclude until you and your family have selected the primary materials that we will integrate into our drawings in the following phase. These selections will cover flooring, wall covering, countertops, cabinetry styles, and color. Our team of architects and designers will curate a focused collection of options for you to see and feel. This will also allow you to see the many materials paired side by side, which is fundamental in the decision-making process.

Often, these materials will be selected from the large material library in our studio in NY however, we may collect and catolog new materials that are uniquely fitting to your desires.
