Located on a 290-acre campus, Butler University was founded in 1855 by the attorney and abolitionist Ovid Butler. Undergraduates can choose from 55 degree programs, and the university has an impressive 11 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 20. Student life at Butler is active with over 140 student organizations. Students come from 43 states and 52 countries. Butler is one of the highest ranked universities in the Midwest.

Creighton University undergraduates can choose from over 50 academic programs, and the school has an impressive 11 to 1 student / faculty ratio. Biology and nursing are the most popular undergraduate majors. Creighton frequently ranks #1 among Midwest master's universities in U.S. News & World Report, and the school also wins high marks for its value.

With an acceptance rate of 15%, Georgetown is the most selective of the Big East universities. Georgetown takes advantage of its location in the country's capital—the university has a significant international population, and study abroad and International Relations are both extremely popular.

Marquette University is a private, Jesuit, Roman Catholic University. The university typically places well on rankings of national universities, and its programs in business, nursing and the biomedical sciences are worth a close look. For its strengths in the liberal arts and sciences, Marquette was awarded a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa.

As a mid-sized university, Seton Hall provides a healthy balance of research and teaching. Founded in 1842, Villanova is the oldest and largest Catholic university in Pennsylvania. Located just outside of Philadelphia, Villanova is well known for both its strong academics and athletic programs.
