17 Remote & Relaxing Farm Stays on Airbnb
If you’ve always dreamed of escaping to a farm in the country, these Airbnbs will give you a proper taste of the simple life.
Life on a farm always sounds idyllic and relaxing: rolling hills, clean air, cattle grazing in meadows, chickens laying fresh eggs, friendly goats and sheep nudging for chin scratches, leisurely nights sitting around the fire. But then you remember that actual farm life means endless hours of legitimately hard work every single day of the year. Those animals may be adorable, but they take their jobs seriously, which means no vacations for them—ever.
If long days of mucking stalls and waking up at sunrise aren’t for you, that doesn’t mean you have to forego your bucolic dreams. Just stay at one of these Airbnb farms, where you’ll be able to sleep in, enjoy fresh eggs that magically appear in the kitchen, pet animals, sit around a fire at night, and take endless adorable pictures—without any of the feeding, milking, mucking, or egg-collecting. (Unless, of course, you want to.)

Enjoy a rustic glamping experience at this A-frame cabin set on 78 acres of farmland near the Walkill River. The tiny A-frame does have electricity, but the nearby outhouse does not have plumbing (aka no showers or running water), so this is truly a rustic experience. But who cares about showering when you can spend your days visiting chickens, goats, and cows, fishing in the two large ponds or Walkill River, or playing disc golf, and your nights grilling out, playing board games, or sitting around the outdoor fire pit? And although you’ll feel very disconnected from the real world, the town (with plenty of restaurants and bars) is only a three-minute drive away.
What guests say: “Our stay at The Step was amazing! Not only is the A-frame beautiful, but the location is also perfect for those looking to disconnect and explore. The farm was such a treat, and the local businesses were fantastic. Would recommend and come again!”

Experience a little bit of what life is like for Amish farmers at this bed and breakfast located on a working farm run by a large Amish family. Take a tour of the property, visit with the horses and chickens, and enjoy a breakfast of fresh eggs and homemade bread in the morning while listening to the clip-clop of horse hooves pulling buggies along the road. Paradise is a small, unincorporated town in Lancaster County and is surrounded by lots to see and do, including buggy rides, farm tours, museums, and more.
What guests say: “We had a warm welcome at this wonderful Airbnb with a marvelous family that took us on a tour of their farm, their animals (horses, dogs, puppies, and chickens), and they picked fresh produce, which they shared with us. The house was fully functional and a comfortable space for ourselves or a larger family. The fully equipped kitchen was roomy with an eat-in table and included spices, oils, coffee, as well as fresh eggs and homemade bread for our breakfasts. We definitely plan on returning to this great find.”

This cozy bungalow is situated in the middle of a 10-acre working farm that grows apples and pears for a local cidery, and is also home to mini cows, mini horses, sheep, a pot belly pig, ducks, guinea hens, and chickens. Sit on the deck and take in views of the classic big red barn while visiting with the chicken before taking a tour of the farm and meeting all the friendly and curious animals. Enjoy fresh eggs in the morning, sip on cider in the hot tub in the evening, and spend the day exploring nearby historic Gold Country towns.
What guests say: “If you wanted a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Kris and Brendan’s bungalow is the perfect getaway. Upon arrival, the chickens are quick to greet you and hope that you find the feed so you can give them a snack. The bungalow itself was cozy and sweet and had all the amenities you need. If you desire, they do give a lovely farm tour so you can learn about the animals and the future of their cidery. It was a nice and peaceful stay.”

This 120-year-old farmhouse on a tiny working farm is about 45 minutes from Seattle and 15 minutes from Tacoma. The house is light and airy, and you’ll find fresh eggs for breakfast and are welcome to pick apples and pears when they’re in season. The house is surrounded by a large yard with a fire pit, perfect for relaxing evenings. During the day, guests are welcome to walk around the farm and look at the animals and feed the goats through the fence. There are also sheep (who also enjoy being fed), pigs, and free-roaming chickens. Gig Harbor, a small town on Puget Sound, is just a few miles away and has tons of bars and restaurants, galleries, gorgeous views, boat rentals and tours, and more.
What guests say: “The house at Lester Farm is exactly as depicted. Lovely little farm and animals to interact with through the fence (if you so choose). We had picnics on the lawn next to the house, walked to the local park, took advantage of off-leash dog trails nearby, went to Kopachuck to explore the beach, and took the quick drive into town for food and drinks. Really can’t say enough about how clean the house was and great for both a dog and a kiddo. Plenty of space for everyone, and none of us wanted to leave!”

You can also add on a farm tour, take a wagon ride, and buy all of the farm’s products, including delicious lavender lemonade.
What guests say: “We cannot wait to come back and stay on the farm!! It was so beautiful and peaceful; the renovated barn is pristine and cozy, not to mention the amazing surroundings of lavender fields and well-kept farm animals. This adorable Airstream with a private fenced yard has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, including an outdoor grill, picnic table, fire pit, cornhole, hot tub, and outdoor showers. The reason you’re staying here, though, is because of all of the animals. Specifically, Nigerian dwarf milking goats, miniature horses, llamas, and chickens—all of which you can play with. You can even help milk the goats and watch the owner make cheese.
What guests say: “The camper at Kim’s farm was so cozy, comfortable, and well-decorated. The animals, including a llama, goats, pigs, mini-horses, and chickens, were added delights to our stay. The baby goats and pigs were especially friendly and affectionate. We opted for the farm breakfast and tea lattes, which were delicious ways to start the morning. Kim and Kiva were hospitable and friendly hosts. We would love to come back to their beautiful farm.”

Sleeping inside of a former silo is Instagram-worthy on its own. Add a working farm with llamas (which you can feed), sheep, goats, and cows, a pond for fishing (and a brown goat named Lil D who will happily hang out with you while you do so), a private outdoor shower, and a porch with rocking chairs perfect for beer-drinking, sunset-watching, and stargazing, and you’ve found yourself the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.
What guests say: “Spotless! Beautiful, colorful, cheery place. We were there 3 nights and were still discovering fun things about the artsy, tasteful, and playful decorations. And the llamas! This clean, modern home is completely sustainable, has a state-of-the-art kitchen, and is perfect for big groups—although you’ll have to figure out a fair way to decide who gets to stay in the silo. It sits on a 33-acre, grass-fed cattle farm where you’ll see the world’s cutest cows (aka Scottish Highland cattle) grazing in the pastures. At night you can sit on the balcony and watch the sunset behind the Blue Ridge Mountains before moving inside to cook dinner (you can buy produce from local farms), followed by drinks around the fireplace.
What guests say: “We had the best time at this house! We saw INCREDIBLE sunrises and sunsets, enjoyed relaxing and reading on the porch, and took the time to slow down and cook meals in their wonderful kitchen. Beautiful space and place.”

It’s extremely well appointed with modern, homemade furniture, French linens, an oversized bathtub, a vinyl collection, and original artwork. Don't be fooled by its name: You certainly don't have to be a writer—or even a wannabe writer—to appreciate this quaint cabin. Set on a lovely piece of property alongside other cabins, and awash in views of an apple orchard and a small fish pond, the Writer’s Cabin is the perfect sort of retreat for a quick getaway. It's fairly small at just 500 square feet, but it's also equipped with everything you need to unplug and relax (or, ya know, write) including a queen bed, dining table, wood fire stove, and a kitchen.
What guests say: “This place is a true oasis. We stayed here to unwind from the big city and have more space to breathe and focus on our creative projects. Being able to spend just 30 minutes at a petting zoo is a guaranteed delight, so this cozy cottage—which literally sits on a working horse farm with a petting zoo—is a must for anyone who loves farms and cute animals. The petting zoo is technically open 24/7 for you to hand-feed goats, alpacas, and sheep. (Maybe don’t wake up the animals at 3 am though, as it’s sort of sad to think of sheep having to count sheep to fall baaaaa-ck asleep.) The cottage is right in the middle of all the farm action, which means you’ll get to enjoy (or, at the very least, take in) all of the sights and sounds.
What guests say: “Perfect little spot for my family and me to unwind, unplug, and just chill for a long weekend. The cottage was beautifully decorated and maintained, so comfortable and clean. All the animals were so cute, fun, and well cared for…you could just see and feel the love in all their faces and personalities. I was in awe of how everything was so well maintained—from the animals to the land to the buildings to the plants.”

Let’s be real: If you’re going to sleep in a former milk barn, you want that former milk barn to look as classic as possible. In other words, it needs to be the perfect cherry red—which, as luck (and paint) would have it, is exactly what this New England property is. The barn sits on four acres of Connecticut countryside with gardens, a seasonal swimming pool, and a year-round hot tub. Obviously, the time to go is in the autumn when the fall foliage is living/dying its best life, but it’s a gorgeous spot any time of year—especially if you enjoy colonial history, of which you’ll find plenty in the surrounding towns.
What guests say: “Beautiful cottage and grounds. A really relaxing and peaceful experience, just what we were looking for. A picture-perfect small Connecticut town made even better during peak fall foliage season. The space was very well-kept, and we felt comfortable the second we got there. Really fast communication with the Host. A perfect place to escape for quiet and beautiful surroundings.”
