Just starting research and to my surprise the Kia Telluride keeps popping up as the top choice in the "non-luxury" mid-size SUV with a third row category. Would you drive this and if you have one or have ridden in one, what are your thoughts?

My mom got one last September and likes it a lot. It has been one of the highest demanded vehicles in the entire year. People come up to her who have tried to get one so they can look inside and see it.

I have a Kia and like it as well. I think their cars have gotten much better the last decade

Edit: I test drove one and it is very wide. I would say it is more a Durango and less like an Explorer size wise.

Car And Driver magazine just wrapped up a long-term test in one and they adored it.

C&D Telluride 40,000-mile test final thoughts

Also, good luck finding or getting one, and be prepared to pay close to MSRP. I don't know of a dealer that can keep these on the lot.

I remember seeing an ad not long ago for a Kia dealer in Oregon bragging about having "the largest Telluride inventory in the Northwest!". They had, like, 6.

Midsize 3 row vehicles are pointless IMO. No storage space when all seats are up.

Minivan is the answer if you aren't wanting to go fullsize SUV.

paying full price for a kia, i'd look to compare how far off you are from other bit more luxury type vehicles.

This is where I'm stuck. Last time I bought a vehicle, KIA didn't even enter my mind as a possibility. I looked at them as cheap entry level car for a teenager.

Rode in one last weekend from Tuscaloosa to Mobile. Smooth ride, not a lot of road noise, and plenty of room for 3 adults, one toddler, and a dog. This included overnight duffel bags for the 4 people in the car too.

I've owned one for 14 months now. It is hands down the best vehicle I've ever driven.

Only time I need a third row is when I don’t need to carry much cargo.

Still a Kia they seem cheaply made. Along with the Hyundai palisade. For the money I would just go with a Tahoe or something along those lines. I’m also in the market and debating on a Honda Odyssey or pilot. The odyssey is very nice lot of room but probably going with the pilot to get out of the mini van

It's a big difference. Like $25k+ jump (at least) to BMW, Audi, Mercedes.

So no vacations? Why do you "need" a third row at all then?

Probably a Dodge Durango and a 1998 Hyundai Tiburon.

Usually fly on vacation, unless we go back to Iowa for a visit. Third row is good for when we have visitors in from out of town or a neighbor kid or two catching a ride to practice. Only time we need it.

The Tahoe has little storage space when seats are up as well.

I like them, they seem like a solid vehicle.. People who own them love them as well...

But it's just something about buying a KIA.. I dunno..

It's got more than a midsize, but I meant the full fullsize options.

I'd check out the Toyota Highlander as another 3rd row option.
