Makes no sense to me. Y’all border the gulf? Wouldn’t it be a good money maker

We have Grand Isle, and it’s a treasure.

There are beaches…holly beach, grand isle, etc. but there are other areas with such a small slope that there’s nowhere for the sand to accumulate so it just transitions over miles of marsh grass

Probably b/c one of the largest rivers in the world has been dumping dirt all over for millions of years.

C'mon man
All of the sediment from 60% of the US drains through the state. The state's coast was built by this process.

the mouth of the river is like the a-hole of the country.

Fluvial geomorphology is not your strong suit.

In the 80s a lot of oil companies recruited at schools in the north/Midwest. A friend had a recruiting brochure from Texaco in Morgan City. It looked just like Destin with people water skiing and boating and babes frolicking in bikinis. I moved down here (Lafayette) and learned what Morgan City was really like. I remember thinking that Texaco had a really good (albeit dishonest) marketing group to make Morgan City look like a fun beach town.

We have beaches all over! There are a few beaches around Lake Ponchartrain, The Rigolets, Gulf of Mexico, etc but they are surrounded by silt heavy water which is brown and doesn't make for a pleasurable beach experience. What it does do is provide and awesome habitat for many fish to thrive
