Bengaluru: An 82-year-old man who flew in from London to Bengaluru shared his experience at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), which he called a plight. He said, he was med to “walk dead of night” with his 72-year-old wife having physical ailments till the taxi stand. The elderly man criticised the staff at the Bengaluru airport, saying that he had to go person to person for the wheel-chair service covered in his tickets. The passengers added that he also carried his luggage from the belt as nobody there listened to him.
“My plight at Kempegouda international airport My flight from London to. Bengaluru on 6th Nov 2024 was terrifying. I was having a wheel chair service ticket. After alight from the plane I asked for a wheel chair. I was made to scramble for it and made to toss from one person to another and lift baggage from the belt. I am 82 years old and there was nobody to listen,” said Rajesh Bhandiwad in a post on social media platform, Facebook.
“I was dropped at the stamping counter. As I am and my wife aged 75 years with physical ailments made to walk dead of night till taxi stand It was chaos all the way till I reached home At Taxi stand nobody to regulate and got fleeced by taxi wala,” he added.
His post gathered a lot of reaction, condemning the KIA staff for not facilitating the elderly couple as needed. While some felt sorry for the inconvenience that Rajesh Bhandiwad and his wife had to face, others highlighted the lapse in service at the airport.
“Airport authorities who are handling wheel chair service are at their worst. Even my father faced similar issues multiple times . They don’t have courtesy to senior citizens. When I complained to the supervisor, he said he is short of helpers. I think this is happening to everyone now. Senior citizens should be taken care of in airports; it is the duty of airport authorities,” read a comment.
