Gujarat Man Gets Out On Bail, Rapes The Same 70-Year-Old Woman Again In Bharuch

Gujarat: A 35-year-old man, Shailesh Rathod, who was out on bail, allegedly raped a 70-year-old woman in Bharuch district, Gujarat. The crime occurred on December 15 and December 22 in the elderly woman's hut at a farm. Rathod had previously been arrested for raping the same woman around 18 months ago and was jailed. However, he committed this latest crime while out on bail, threatening the victim with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter.

The woman later went to the police, leading to the registration of an FIR at Amod police station. Following this, teams from the crime branch, Special Operations Group, and local police were formed to arrest Rathod.

This incident comes on the heels of another case in Bharuch district, where an 11-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped in an industrial area died at a government hospital on Monday evening. She had been fighting for her life for a week.

The girl had severe internal injuries from the assault and was moved to SSG Hospital in Vadodara after initial treatment at the civil hospital in Ankleshwar, Bharuch district, according to hospital officials.

"The girl suffered from a cardiac arrest at around 2 pm, after which her condition deteriorated. The patient was stabilised after treatment, but at around 5:15 pm, she suffered another cardiac arrest. Doctors provided her with immediate treatment, but she was declared dead at 6:15 pm," said Resident Medical Officer (RMO), SSG Hospital, Dr. Hitendra Chauhan.
