IEC 2024 Exclusive: Vikrant Massey Praises Balika Vadhu, Says 'It Created A Social Change'

Vikrant Massey, one of the most versatile actors in the industry, just dropped a bomb of nostalgia at the IEC 2024. While chatting on the stage, the Haseen Dillruba actor opened up about his admiration for the iconic show Balika Vadhu and how it made a significant impact on society. For those who don't know, Vikrant had also worked in Balika Vadhu in the role of Shyam Singh, the supporting husband of Sugana i.e. Vibha Anand.

On Balika Vadhu

Talking about the show, Massey said, "I used to do a show on television called Balika Vadhu. That show is one of the most wonderful shows ever in the history of television in India. That got TRP, yes, but the social impact it created was massive. Today, we only talk about 'kitni ki opening hui'. I am not of that pedigree. For me, the archival value is more important. Your work should outlive you."
For those who might’ve forgotten, Balika Vadhu was a revolutionary daily soap that tackled the deep-rooted issue of child marriage in India. The show not only captivated audiences but also sparked important conversations in households across the country.
