Supreme Court's YouTube Channel Hacked, Replaced With Ripple Cryptocurrency Content
Instead of usual legal content of Supreme Court, videos related to cryptocurrency were seen on the official YouTube channel of the apex court. This indicated that the Supreme Court's official YouTube channel was allegedly hacked. Hacked YouTube channel is showing videos promoting XRP, a cryptocurrency developed by US-based company Ripple Labs.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court's official YouTube channel was allegedly hacked. When accessed the official YouTube channel named "Supreme Court of India", the named appeared to be changed to "Ripple".
Instead of usual legal content of Supreme Court, videos related to cryptocurrency were seen on the YouTube channel.
SC has been using YouTube to stream hearings of cases listed before Constitution Benches and matters involving significant public interest.
Hacked YouTube channel is showing videos promoting XRP, a cryptocurrency developed by US-based company Ripple Labs.
Currently, a video titled "Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC's $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION" is live on the channel.
Recently, the Supreme Court suo motu proceedings pertaining to R G Kar Hospital Horror was live streamed and tv channels had cut live to it. The proceedings were brought to the drawing room of public by Supreme Court using this YouTube channel.
This is the first time that the Supreme Court's YouTube channel has been hacked after the top court decided to live-stream proceedings of all constitution bench hearings in 2018.
"This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of Supreme Court of India has been taken down. The services on YouTube channel of Supreme Court of India will be resumed shortly," said SC Registrar ( IT) in a statement.
In a unanimous decision taken by the recent full court meeting headed by then CJI UU Lalit, the top court decided to live-stream proceedings of all constitution bench hearings following a path-breaking verdict on the matter in 2018.
In 2020, Ripple sued YouTube for failing to stop hackers from impersonating its CEO Brad Garlinghouse. The US firm runs an exchange network for the cryptocurrency XRP, which is aimed at people who want to send money internationally.
