The Pixis Epoch -- an OEM model of the Daihatsu Mira e:S minivehicle -- was placed on the market in May 2012 under the Toyota brand, becoming the third model supplied by Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. to Toyota under a minivehicle OEM agreement reached in September 2010.

The Pixis Epoch returned to the basics of minivehicles and focused on realizing great fuel efficiency at very affordable prices. The simply styled body was compact on the outside yet roomy enough to comfortably accommodate four adults, and came in eight attractively understated colors including Cotton Ivory.

The eco-IDLE system, a device to reduce idling by shutting off the engine before the car came to a full stop (i.e., at 7 km/h or less), was standard-equipped on all models. This and other fuel saving technologies enabled 2-wheel-drive models to achieve a fuel economy of 30.0 km/l under the JC08 test cycle, which was among the highest in gasoline-powered vehicles at the time. All models surpassed the MLIT 2015 fuel efficiency standards by 20 percent, and in combination with certification for 75 percent lower emissions than the MLIT 2005 standards, the Pixis Epoch was eligible for tax credits on environment-friendly vehicles.
