DK40SE Hydro
Model Year: 2008
I have had my DK40 for about a year now, and I must say, I do not have 1 complaint. I use it to maintain 45 acres... a 1/2 mile long gravel driveway, bush-hogging various areas, moving dirt, moving logs (I own a sawmill), logging, hauling firewood, etc etc. I work my tractor hard and thus far, the DK40 has not let me down. The only thing I did was replace the factory battery with an Optima Gel-Cell battery. The factory battery was fine but I keep Optima batteries in all of my equipment so that there is no battery maintenance or corrosion. The tractor is very heavy built. The loader mounts are the heaviest I have seen, all of the levers and controls are built heavy and in easy-to-reach places. The electronic 4wd and pto-engage switches are very nice, I am really spoiled now by them. The 4cyl diesel engine is very smooth and powerful, and sips fuel. All of the filters are easy to access, I like the removable screen in front of the radiator, keeps the radiator spotless clean. I like the extra 3 point hitch lever that is on the back of the tractor, makes attaching implements a breeze. The underside of the tractor, that gets a beating from logs, sticks, rocks, etc, is very heavy, and all of the electronics and wiring are well protected. The steering cylinders (1 for each side!) are the heaviest and largest I have seen for this type of tractor. The loader is nothing short of amazing as far as the build quality and lift capacity (2700 lbs!!!). In order to be fair and balanced, I really feel like I should list at least one weakness...but in all honesty I cannot for the life of me think of one. On just about every piece of equipment I own, I can think of at least 1 or 2 things that could be improved, but in this case, I can't. So I will leave it at that. I am 100% satisfied.
Pros: Very heavy built, smooth power, excellent features, excellent engine
Cons: None
