One of South Florida's most iconic hotels is getting a $150 million makeover. Boca Raton Resort & Club has been a southeastern Florida mainstay since opening in 1926. With five hotels — Cloister, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Tower, and Bungalows — set across 356 acres, the resort is truly a waterfront oasis. A private beach, Waldorf Astoria Spa, marina, 30 tennis courts, seven swimming pools, and 36 holes of championship golf make the resort a luxurious destination in itself, but its latest additions and renovations are going to bring Boca Raton Resort & Club into "a new golden era."

Boca Raton Resort & Club's owners, MSD Partners and Northview Hotel Group, have gathered a dream team of designers and architects to transform the property, including Rockwell Group, EDSA, Garcia Stromberg, and King & Partners. In a statement shared with Travel + Leisure, Coburn Packard, partner and cohead of real estate at MSD Partners, said, "The Boca Raton Resort & Club is undeniably a one-of-a-kind destination, where many of our members and guests have visited for decades. Since its opening in 1926, it has been a global icon. Despite the current challenging times, we are more committed than ever to our bright future. As we approach the property's 100th anniversary and embark on the most comprehensive transformation in its history with a team of award-winning visionaries, we're aspiring to redefine luxury hospitality."

Shawn Sullivan, partner at Rockwell Group, echoed Packard's sentiments, saying, "It's thrilling to bring Boca Raton Resort & Club full circle, almost 100 years after its opening, and with a look and a feel that extends the original core of the resort outward. Our design celebrates the space's original spirit to create a dynamic set of social spaces that embrace the transition between indoors and out. The property is the clubhouse for Boca Raton, so reinventing that for a new generation is really exciting."

The project includes a lakefront complex that sounds like a luxe water park, complete with four pools (including an adults-only option), a lazy river, two slides, a splash park, luxury cabanas, and more. Plans also feature something for every family member, with a retail boutique, a spacious event lawn, a kids' club and a teen's lounge, two bars, and other dining options, including a lakefront restaurant.

The Tower will be completely reconfigured and renovated, with all new guest rooms — 130 suites, 10 executive suites, and a presidential suite — and a lounge on the top level with views of the city, ocean, and Intracoastal Waterway. The resort's restaurants, including Morimoto and Palm Court, will be revamped, too.

This winter, guests and members will begin to see the progress. In December, the Beach Club's updated lobby and oceanfront restaurant and bar will debut, and the rest of the first phase transformations are set to be completed by the 2021-2022 season.
