Transfer with the same airline
Hi,
I would like to get information. about the tranfer precedures with the same airline. I will go with Air china from Budapest and will transfer in Beijing and the final destination will be Tokyo. Do I have to go through a security and immirgartion check or just proceed to the next gate?
Thanks in advance for the help.

You just need to go through a simple security check then head to take the next flight if you enjoy luggage check through service.

If you enter China through Beijing and intend to transfer to a domestic flight on the same airline, immigration, baggage reclaim and recheck-in is usually necessary. If however, you will transfer to continue your flight outside China, these days they seem to have arranged it so passengers don't need to recheck-in, although there are passport and security checks on the way to the gate. PreCovid, I was passing through BJ on an international transfer and I think they hadn't yet set it up this way. My first flight was delayed and my luggage took a while to reclaim and the check-in was already closed when I got there. They arranged for my suitcase to be accommodated (having initially scolded me for turning up to check-in late) but I needed to remove my liquids from it.

I want to add that on checking-in when you first depart, ask the check-in staff to ensure your luggage is checked all the way to Tokyo. They should also issue a second boarding pass for that leg of the flight which you will show at transfer in BJ. Usually the baggage reclaim sticker is stuck onto the boarding pass for the final leg of the journey.

Is 2.30h enough time for a layover?
I will departure from Munich and land in Beijing. I then will have to get my bags, and go to immigration customs and check in once more before my connection to fly to kunming?
I have a single ticket, my layover is of 2 hours and a half, will it be enough time?
And if it happens that I miss the connection for a delay in the security process the company (air china) will put me in another flight or they will say it was my fault?

2.5 hours may be enough if your first flight doesn't delay. You need to contact the air company to know whether you enjoy the luggage check through service. In Beijing airport, if you hold an interline international ticket, you don't have to go through the immigration and customs. If you miss the flight because of the security process, then you need to endorse and the company may not take responsibility for it.

How long of a layover do I need to transfer on separate tickets
I will fly from Shanghai to Beijing on Eastern China Airlines. I then have a separate ticket on United from Beijing to San Francisco. I have four hours between these flights. Is this enough time to get my bags, transfer to terminal 3 and go through immigration and customs before my flight?
