The annual scientific meeting of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (EASA) members was held in Salzburg from June 30 to July 2, 2022. During the meeting, scientists from around the world discussed contemporary challenges we face and the direction of scientific research. The conference included a Festive Session, a ceremonial academic appointment ceremony for new members. During this ceremony, Prof. Ewa Ziemba, Ph.D. (Department of Business Informatics and International Accounting), was awarded the prestigious title of an ordinary member of EASA.
EASA is a prestigious non-governmental scientific and artistic organization, established in 1990 by member countries of the European Community. It brings together more than 2,000 leading representatives of the humanities, medicine, arts, natural sciences, social sciences (including law and economics), technology, religion and management-related sciences, who conduct innovative research, engage in interdisciplinary and transnational cooperation, as well as in the exchange and dissemination of knowledge. Among EASA's members are more than 30 Nobel Prize winners. Poland is represented in EASA by 40 distinguished scientists hailing from various fields and disciplines.
The purpose of EASA is to analyze and solve problems modern society faces, and to support scientific and artistic creativity in cooperation with the academic, governmental, non-governmental and business communities, both locally and at the European level.
Becoming an EASA member is a lengthy process, consisting of: a nomination by another EASA member, review of the candidacy by several other EASA members, acceptance of the nomination through the EASA Nominating Committee and approval of the nomination by the EASA Senate. The selection criteria are the candidate's outstanding achievements in science, art or management.
EASA Senate decided to award Prof. Ewa Ziemba, Ph.D, with membership back in May 2021, but due to the pandemic, the formal appointment ceremony was postponed to this year.
We sincerely congratulate Professor Ziemba and wish her further successes!
