Alejandro Garnacho saw his dream come for Manchester United last night when he scored his first goal for the club.

The Argentine youngster struck the winning goal for the Red Devils in a 1-0 victory away at Real Sociedad.

While it was not enough to clinch top spot in the group, Garnacho’s achievement was well worth celebrating, in just his second ever start for the club.

The goal was made even better as it was created by his idol Cristiano Ronaldo, who provided his second assist of the season.

Garnacho celebrates memorable strike

Garnacho’s goal was a high quality goal, praised by BT pundit Paul Scholes, with the Argentine displaying the same clinical edge which saw him net 19 goals in all competitions for the academy sides last season.

He marked the strike with Cristiano Ronaldo’s new celebration, paying tribute to his teammate.

Assisted by his idol, Garnacho is an inspiration to others

Garnacho’s goal begins a new cycle. While he has looked up to Cristiano Ronaldo for years, many youngsters will be viewing the 18-year-old breakthrough star as their own inspiration.

This applies to his academy teammates too, who have played alongside Garnacho, and are now watching him star for the first team alongside Ronaldo and co.

Garnacho’s message on Instagram was followed by responses from his FA Youth Cup winning teammates, who congratulated him and expressed wonderment at his impact.

A year ago, last season’s FA Youth Cup goal had not even begun, and Garnacho had not even trained with Manchester United’s first team.

Now he is an inspiration. Not every player will make it, and others will progress at different rates, perhaps with longer journeys to the first team, even via a loan spell.

Garnacho looks to be a gem, who has really seized his opportunity. This will encourage others confidence to do the same if they are fortunate enough to be given a chance.
