Enceladus, Saturn Moon
Updated : 05/04/2025

Enceladus is one of the 148 moons discovered orbiting the planet Saturn. Enceladus was discovered in 1789 by William Herschel.
Enceladus's mass is estimated/calculated at 107,944,591,230,692,000,000 kg. Its density has been calculated at being 1.608 g/cm^3. Enceladus volume is 67,113,076.00 (km^3). Enceladus's equatorial radius is 252.00km. The escape velocity of Enceladus is 861 km/h. The escape velocity is the speed an object needs to be travelling in order to break free from the objects gravity. The larger an object is, the more velocity (speed) is needed to break free from the object.
The equatorial circumference of Enceladus is 1584.0 km. The surface area of Enceladus is 798,648.27 Km^2. The surface gravity of the Enceladus is 0.113 m/s². For comparison, the Earth's surface gravity is 9.807 m/s². The larger an object is, the stronger the surface gravity is.The Mean Orbit Velocity (M.O.V.) is the speed at which it orbits is 45487.30 km/h. The average distance of the object from its parent is 238037.00km.
Enceladus Mythology
Enceladus was a Gigante, a race of giants in mythology. The Gigantes were a race of a hundred giants that were born to the Earth Goddess of Gaia. Gaia was believed to have become pregnant when the blood of Ouranos ( Uranus ) splashed on her. The Gigantes were notable for their uprising against the Greek Gods notably Zeus. Enceladus fought with Athena and lost when Athene crushed Enceladus with Mount Etna on the Isle of Sciliy, Theoi
Orbital Details
Enceladus orbital period, i.e. the period it takes to complete an orbit round Saturn is 1.37022 days. The figure is also known as the sidereel period. The figure comes from N.A.S.A.. The orbital inclination of Enceladus, the angle at which Enceladus orbits to the orbital plane, is 0 degrees. The orbital eccentricity is 0.0047 of Enceladus, the degree at which Enceladus orbits close to a circular (0) orbit as opposed to an elliptical (1). The semi-major axis of the orbit is 238.02 10^3Km, which is the furthest point from the centre to the edge of an elliptical point.
