Rolla Drops Aces on Senior Night
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Rolla Pirates took care of the Bucklin Red Aces with ease last Friday in their final home game of the season, 53-8. Rolla scored early and often with five of their eight touchdowns coming in the opening quarter. The first of which came on their first offensive play with junior Obie Telford connecting with his brother, senior Kyler Telford, on a 41 yard toss pass. The Telfords would lead the Pirates’ offense all night having a hand on seven touchdown plays.
The Red Aces didn’t fold after a 34-0 first quarter deficit. They took advantage of a long pass play to open the second quarter and then punched in touchdown of their own on a nine yard pass play. The Pirates quickly responded and pushed the lead to 45 points with just over three and a half minutes to play. The game was called at halftime due to the mercy rule.
Rolla, 6-2 (2-2), will close out their season next Thursday at Moscow against the Wildcats. With a win they will be Santa Fe Trail League champions for the second consecutive season, outright. Bucklin will look to get their first win of the year, and their first win since 2008, next week as they host the Ingalls Bulldogs.
