Such a sweetheart. Jennifer Garner got very verklempt on the Today show on Wednesday, March 18, breaking down and crying as she spoke about her family.
The Danny Collins actress, 42, was catching up with Savannah Guthrie about her latest movie when the journalist mentioned Garner’s recent photo shoot for Southern Living with her mother Patricia and sisters Melissa and Susannah.
“It makes me cry to see their faces, so I won’t look,” Ben Affleck‘s wife said as a gorgeous shot from the spread was shown.
“There’s just nothing like sharing the spotlight or anything else with your sisters and your mom,” Garner continued as she began to tear up and speak slowly. “It’s always fun for me to get my sisters dolled up and my mom… I can’t even take it, Today show is too tough for me.”
Guthrie, 43, helped Garner compose herself by changing the subject to more mundane topics like Tax Day. She then passed the mic over to Matt Lauer, who celebrated the actress for her emotional honesty, saying, “We just put Jennifer on the list of best guests ever… Fantastic, she’s unbelievable.”
“I’m so sorry!” Garner said, wiping more tears away from her eyes. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. My mom is under the weather and it just… I didn’t realize I would get emotional.”
Garner, who did not elaborate on her mother’s health, is the middle daughter of Patricia and Bill Garner. She dished on her close relationships with older sister Melissa and younger sis Susannah in Southern Living, saying, “Being the middle sister of these three girls is the relationship that defines me more than anything else. More than being my kids’ mother, more than being my husband’s wife, I’m first and foremost the middle Garner girl.”
