Kim Kardashian West is officially back. After posting a family video to her app, sharing a few photos on Instagram, and posting her first selfie of 2017 on Snapchat, she’s now taking public business lunches in distressed denim, a true sign of re-entry into the world.

While out at lunch in Bel Air with songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, Kardashian West returned to her normal glam routine, showing off possibly Cher-inspired hair. She was more casual than usual in a black zip-up hoodie, but she did keep one 2016 trend alive with her ultra-ripped jeans. Look at them; there’s less actual jean than tatter. Later in the evening, she captured the denim on Snapchat adding in small white font the word “torn.” Could this be a cryptic message about a business deal? Her marriage? At this point, who can say?! Alas, she’s probably just commenting on her jeans, not referencing Natalie Imbruglia’s late-90s hit “Torn.”

The purpose of her meeting with Sager also remains to be seen. Kardashian West might be persuading the hitmaker behind songs like “That’s What Friends Are For” and “Nobody Does It Better” to churn out some bangers for her husband, Kanye West. Perhaps 2017 is the year that bestows us with the followup to Kardashian West’s only foray into song, 2011’s “Jam (Turn It Up).” Or maybe Sager is an old family friend with whom she’s catching up. Only time will tell.
