If your greatest fear is no one showing up to the party, invest in a show-stopping event page design.
Whether you’re planning a conference, webinar, retreat, or networking event, don’t forget about your most critical communication tool: your event page. As a bare minimum, it needs to highlight key event information and steer people to take specific actions — like registering, buying tickets, and sharing the event.
Yet, to really sell the experience (and make people more likely to take those actions) it needs to pop. A static page with a lackluster color scheme void of any personality just won’t cut it. We’ve pulled together some of the best examples out there, including a number of inspiring animated and interactive event page designs — many of which were created without developers using no-code web design tools.
The Importance of Event Page Design
A visually compelling event page design not only acts as a centralized space for people to learn about what’s happening, it can build excitement. By including anything from animated text to interactive show/hide elements, an event page can be as interactive and engaging as you want it to be.
Let’s take a look at some of the most important things to keep in mind when designing your event page.
Deliver Key Information
Event attendees (even potential ones) need details. An event page design should make it easy to find the date, location, and schedule, as well as information about tickets and packages available for purchase. An event website should also cover who will be speaking or performing, workshops, and other experiences attendees would want to check out and be a part of.
Capture the Tone and Feel
Whether it’s a music festival, design conference, financial symposium, or awards show, your event page design must have a distinct personality that is shaped by the actual event, the experience you are offering, and your ideal attendees. The visuals, language, and information provided should connect with them, spark their interest, and inspire people to join the fun.
Make It Easy to Get Tickets
The main call to action or point of conversion in an event page design should guide people to buy tickets or register for an event. For example, if you are hosting a free webinar requiring sign-up via an embedded form, you could use Vev’s “Embed Anything” feature to collect this information. Perhaps you are planning a ticketed conference directing potential attendees to an external ticketing platform, and you need to include a CTA button.
Whatever it is, the option to purchase tickets should be obvious, and should only require a few steps to accomplish. It should also not be competing with other CTAs—don’t over complicate your message, and don’t make your website visitors do the hard work.
Drum Up Social Media Support
If your event has a social media presence make sure to include links or calls to action to get new followers in your event page design. Social media is an effective way to provide updates and other information, as well as to post content that promotes it. You could even include some social share buttons to get people sharing it with their friends and family.
10 Examples of Effective Event Page Design
Let's dive straight in and have a look at the event page designs that are doing it the right way—from bold CTA buttons to exciting animations.
Selfish Sessions
Covering pop culture as well as lifestyle-related topics with a cheeky bit of attitude and humor, Pedestrian.tv distributes content aimed at a younger demographic. Selfish Sessions is a three-day event put on by Pedestrian.tv and this microsite was made in Vev to promote the event. The event page design fits right in with its brand identity, with fun animations and a bold aesthetic that connects with their youthful audience.
Along with concise writing that communicates information about the event speakers and schedule, they also maximize their chance of selling tickets by making purchase extremely easy. At the bottom right of the event page design, a CTA button with a sun-like shape stays fixed in place upon scroll, spinning when anyone hovers over it. No matter where someone navigates this shining yellow button is ever present, making it easy to click through and make a purchase. This call to action is always on screen and never in competition due to the uncomplicated design of the rest of the event page, ensuring maximum conversions in ticket sales.
Taipei Fashion Week
Taipei Fashion Week is a world-class event showcasing both established and upcoming players in Asian fashion and design. With an event page design filled with giant and angular typography, dancing scroll-triggered animations, and visuals with a soft glow of colors, this website projects an elegant sense of modernism. Taipei Fashion Week is one of sophistication and artistry, and this design perfectly encapsulates what makes it special and creates excitement around the event.
Oslo Business Forum
The Oslo Business Forum is a symposium aimed at bettering business leaders. This event page design created with Vev is a long-form piece of content focused on giving an in-depth summary of the 2020 conference, providing insights into why their events are so valuable. The use of scrollytelling images as section headers helps to break up the content, making it easier to digest and less overwhelming. The bright yellow scroll progress bar also encourages users to continue moving through the content.
A simple call to action in the form of a big, red “Buy Tickets” button stays fixed in the top right of the sticky header, directing website visitors to purchase tickets for their 2023 conference. Combining this valuable and informative long-form content with a simple and bold CTA is a thoughtful way to convince those interested in the event to buy tickets.
Bonnaroo
The event page design for Bonnaroo Music Festival opens up with a background Gaussian gradient with a dusk-like progression of colors. It feels spacious and airy, much like the idyllic 700-acre plot of farmland in Tennessee where Bonnaroo takes place. The musical acts are listed at the top, making it easy to see right away if any of your favorites will be taking the stage.
Bonnaroo is known for its diverse roster of performers, with everyone from EDM DJs to noisy indie rockers performing. The psychedelic visuals of this design will appeal to anyone with eclectic musical tastes, perfectly capturing Bonnaroos’ atmosphere.
Halogen
Halogen, a Norwegian design consultancy, built their striking Change by Design event page in Vev. It pushes color and text with a sense of refined maximalism, with soft purple, orange, green, and yellow coming together in an adventurous color scheme. Sans-serif text shouts at a gigantic size in the background, while smaller body copy relates all of the important details. Though there are wild contrasts in this event page design’s use of color and typographic choice, the overall user experience is clean, and all of the information about the conference is communicated in a manner that’s simple to understand within one single-page website design.
Business to Buttons
Business to Buttons is an annual UX- and design-focused conference in Stockholm, Sweden. This event page design embraces elements of minimalism, with intersecting grid lines and large swaths of negative space.
The scribbled lettering in the Business to Buttons logo and the scrawled circles that appear while you hover through the navigational options inject a bit of chaos into its otherwise neat and orderly design. Throughout you’ll also see duotone images that add vibrancy to the color scheme.
Along with a unique event page design aesthetic, Business to Buttons has everything you’d want to know about its design conference, providing plenty of details about the workshops and speakers that are a part of it. Importantly, a call to action to purchase tickets remains in the sticky header throughout, as well as being prominently placed within the first two sections of the page.
Finansavisen
With a range of speakers covering tech, crypto, renewable resources, and other topics related to finance and investment, Finansavisen is aimed at business professionals and leaders. Built with Vev, this event page design takes advantage of our video embed with clips from some of the featured speakers. This gives those landing on this website a preview of what they’ll experience if they attend.
Along with higher-level information covering the conference, there’s an extensive schedule showing every talk and workshop. While they cover a lot, the design manages to highlight only what’s important. Anyone who might be interested in attending will immediately see everything they have to offer and be inspired to buy tickets. To save space, the event page even includes a show/hide button under the preview of speakers which, when clicked, reveals the full list of speakers.
OFFF Festival
As creatives, many of us have a wide variety of interests and mediums of artistic expression. OFFF Festival, with a lineup of speakers and workshops covering topics like typography, sound design, animation, graphic design, and photography takes a multi-disciplinary approach that has something for whatever your areas of expertise or passions may be.
With a modern aesthetic featuring a lightweight notched display typeface, user-triggered animations, unexpected hover effects, and esoteric visuals this design embraces experimentalism without pushing things too hard. It’s often surreal, messing with space and balance, but still succeeds in communicating all of the amazing things that are going to happen if you choose to go.
KIKK Festival
The KIKK Festival is a yearly international festival that focuses on the intersection of art, science, and technology. It features a wide range of workshops, conferences, speakers, art exhibits, and other happenings.
Throughout the event page design, colorful illustrations capture characters engaged in a variety of activities where they’re interacting with technology. This isn’t a cold and sterile digital space— it is alive with visuals demonstrating how technology improves our lives. Kikk’s user experience captures so well the interdisciplinary focus of its festival, making it a great event for anyone who is interested in learning more about how innovation, technology, and experimentation come together.
Sofia Design Festival
With a background of rich red with yellow text, the event page design for the Sofia Design Festival makes an immediate impression. As well as the bold color scheme, the navigation also stands out. Upon arriving on the site, an arrangement of menu items are housed in geometric shapes. Hovering over these selections reveals illustrations that buzz with animation. This event page design is full of visuals that defy expectations, showing that they’re not afraid to take creative risks.
