With a bohemian soul and the vision to create relatability between natural fabrics and comfortable clothing, Sagrika Grover launched her label Essgee at the young age of 21. Coming from a family of garment exporters, combined with an degree in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, Grover worked for a Miami-based brand, Muche et Muchette. After a brief time with the company, she returned to India to work at her father’s export house, Grover International, as a product developer and a designer for the international clientele. Simultaneously, Grover worked on her independent retail brand and an e-commerce platform, Essgee, that launched in July 2017. Sagrika’s interest in fashion stems from her genes. Her mother is a textile designer and Grover grew up in factories and production fields. This childhood experience piqued her interest in textiles and apparels, and played a crucial role in leading her towards the fashion industry. Backed by her experience and her undying love for bohemian wear, Grover noticed that resort wear was termed as casual attire in the market. Seeking to change the pre-conceived notion, the designer experimented with luxury fabrics such as linen, silks, cottons,  and, thereafter, developed a clothing line breaking the notion. Essgee is a brand envisioning a luxury bohemian aesthetic and serves its clients exactly what they need, be it an edge to the quotidian or adding an exclusive touch to one’s resort wear.
