"A NICE PLACE FOR NICE PEOPLE"

This brick bungalow style brick home is newly updated (2017) and very close to French Quarter. A short ferry ride and you are in the heart of it all.

You’ll love my place because of the location, the views, the sound of the calliope from the steamboats along the river, the people, the coziness.
My place is good for friends, families (with kids), and also big groups (there are other Airbnb's in our block).

About The space:
Our 1950's brick bungalow features an open floor plan that has been recently updated. The home has an open floor plan and a large courtyard for you to enjoy. The home is wheelchair accessible.

About the Area & Location:
Algiers Point - one of the hippest areas in the city. If you are looking to chill and hang out in cool spot, Algiers Point is the place. The neighborhood is home to the Fauborg Market, Congregation Coffee House (my personal favorite), Toute Suite Café, the Dry Dock Café, Tavelino's Pizza and two great bars - The Old Point Bar (check their website for their live music line-up) and the Crown & Anchor, a British Pub in the heart of the Point.

Getting around in Algiers Point If you are driving, we are one of the only vacation rentals in New Orleans with off-street covered parking for up to 2 cars.

If you are not driving, you won't need a car if your staying in the Point. The Canal Street ferry will get you to and from the French Quarter. Uber and Lyft are in full swing in New Orleans so if you miss the ferry, its' a quick trip across the bridge.

Guest access:
The entire 1,200 sq foot home is yours to enjoy. The house has a courtyard in the back and parking for up to 4 cars in the front. The main entrance is to the side of the home, where the lock box is located.
If you have a big group there are other Airbnb's in our block.

Algiers Point is New Orleans' definitely a hidden gem! It the 2nd oldest neighborhood and is a quaint village of historic homes and locally owned businesses. Only steps away from the Algiers-Canal St. Ferry, French Quarter, and Downtown Central Business District area! The neighborhood is a safe, quiet retreat that allows guests to be able to walk to all the action that New Orleans has to offer! Algiers Point was voted New Orleans neighborhood of the year in both 2015 and 2016 and also has a number of local bars and restaurants. Algiers Point is also one of the safest neighborhoods in New Orleans.

Our home is great for families, couples, or friends who are looking for a home away from home. New Orleans has plenty of spots to party and get wild, we are offering you a cozy, comfortable home to relax and get some rest from all that fun! You'll love the historic neighborhood & close proximity to the French Quarter. It's about a 10 min walk to the ferry, which whisks you away across the Mississippi River in about 5 mins, it runs every 15 mins from each side and if you get tired of walking, a Uber or Lyft is around $10.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

We provide all the basic necessities to ensure a peaceful & comfortable stay!

Great location for price
Property was exactly as advertised. Easy walking distance to the ferry and a quiet neighborhood. Good amenities and check-in/check out process. Responsive host and kind. Property a bit outdated and optically needs some TLC (touch up paint and a few minor repairs). However, the home was functional and comfortable. We felt safe while walking at night from the ferry terminal so all in all a good deal for the money.

Great stay
Had a great day, we always stay in Algiers Point when we visit New Orleans. It’s very quiet but close enough to be able to enjoy the world during the day and have a quiet evening away from all the noise at night. We’ve already booked our next stay.

Pretty nice
The house was pretty nice and cozy. The only thing I will say is that one of the toilets didn’t work very well and there was a couple bugs in the house. Other than that it was a nice place.

Absolutely wonderful experience
the house was perfect for us. It was exactly as advertised. Very clean and had everything we needed. Only a few minutes from the ferry, and there are quite a few little local pubs and restaurants within walking distance. I absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice quiet, yet close to everyrhing place to stay.

Safe, quiet rental
We did a bunch of research to decide on where to stay. This place covered all of our priorities. Off street parking, easy access to where we wanted to go, and safety. We enjoyed walking only a few blocks and catching a ride on the ferry to get to the French Quarter. Once we got off the ferry, a streetcar took us to the French Market. Super easy and convenient! We weren’t able to catch the ferry back because it was late, but Uber was available within minutes to drive us back. The house was clean and we had no complaints. (I even had two picky teenage girls with me) The whole neighborhood felt safe and was quiet. We were comfortable and enjoyed our stay.

Had a great time
We walked to the ferry to get to the French Quarter, it was a very easy process except the day we missed the last ferry back. The parking on site was great! Both bedrooms were good. The shower took some work to get the hot water correct but did work. Check in and out were easy. Only "wish" would be for a light over the door to be able to see the lock in the dark. I carried a flashlight after the first day to make it easier. TV worked, standard cable. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment. A great place to stay!

Just What the Doctor Ordered!!!!!!
This charming little house was perfect for our needs. While it is an older home, it is clean and well-maintained. The rent was value-priced. Easy walking access to the Ferry that drops you off at the French Quarter perimeter (convenient and inexpensive). There are nice restaurants in Algiers Point that are within walking distance.

Property suited all our needs
The home was in the perfect location. There were good restaurants close by and easy access to the ferry. The house was a nice, clean, a good size with great outdoor space. Deidra was a wonderful host. She was quick to respond to any questions we had. I do have to agree with one of the previous reviews that the mattresses weren't the most comfortable. But other than that, I would highly recommend staying here.

The apartment was reasonably priced but then you get what you pay for. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. The toilet didn’t work when we got there. And we had to go through three rounds of networks and passwords before we could get on the Wi-Fi.

Quaint Home in the Heart of History
We chose this home in Algiers as this home has off-street parking. The home is quaint and well appointed. I read some of the other reviews and was disappointed in the disappointment. This home is not fully renovated and was built, probably, in the 50's. It has maintained that character and has been made more modern in the decor and furnishings. Imagine staying at your grandparents cool house in New Orleans except that it's been modernly decorated. There are two bedrooms, one with a door and one with a thick curtain to make it private. The front door is in the curtained bedroom and you access the living space by the side door. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower. The shower looks small on the outside but, it's actually quite spacious and has a bench seat. The bathroom with the shower is a jack and jill that opens to the bedroom and the living area. Each room is private. There's also a great courtyard. The area is up and coming so you'll see nice and fine. We took the ferry every single day (only a couple of blocks away) and the area is very safe. There's a great place to eat and hang out on the block behind the house, an amazing coffee shop and park just a couple of blocks away, an English pub, and another bar/cafe right by the ferry with a pizza shop next door. I have MS and all of this was walk-able. The only things I missed were a foam topper to the beds (they're very firm,) a small fire-pit outside, and TV or fire/ROKU sticks for fun. I'd stay again.

Location was wonderful
loved the peace and quiet of the house. The mattresses on both beds need to be replaced. Slept in both beds and had sore back every morning. Got home and the pain went away. One of the faucets in the bathroom leaked the entire time we were there. This house was a mile from the ferry and we found it easier to drive over the bridge to French Quarter and WWII museum.

Girls trip
The property is on the west side of the river, a quick 10min walk to the ferry will take you to the riverwalk, or a 20min ride by car. I only have 2 complaints 1. the host doesn't provide any refreshments, which is fine but it would have been nice to know that in advance so we could have stopped and picked up a few things before we arrived. 2. There was a problem with opening the lockbox to gain entry, 1st we were given the wrong access code, and 2nd the instructions on the website weren't accurate. It took close to an hour for us to get in. But the host, answered the phone immediately when we called and was very polite and patience in helping us. Overall it's a great place I would definitely book again

Best thing, the location. Found a couple nice places to eat and drink within walking distance and the ferry landing is super close. We barely moved the car from the driveway. Oh yeah, the driveway! Such a rarity in NOLA. A four-car covered parking area! Great courtyard, we spent half our time out there. The house is a little dated but worth every nickel. We'll stay there again.

Property not as described and pictures very deceiving
We were afraid to stay at the property. The description was of a quiet, safe place. As you drove to the location you passed numerous homeless people begging. There was a group of at least 15 people sitting in chairs in the middle of the median just hanging out. There was trash up and down the streets. The picture of the carport of the home on the vrbo site is natural brick. It has since been painted white and is dirty. The windows all have bars on them. The window in the back of the home was opened and the screen was cut where it appeared that someone had tried to break in. The inside kitchen floor had a stain or someone had spilled something across it and it had not been cleaned. It was not at all what the pictures looked like online or what it was described like therefore we did not stay. We would like to get a refund because it was definitely false advertising. It was getting dark when we arrived and we were expected at a function so we left fast because we did not feel safe and we had to find an alternative place to stay plus then get to our function. We would like our money back!

Location ain't all!
But the location is great! The rest of it is just as good. Perfect for 4 people, though the bigger bedroom doesn't have a door. That means familiarity is key. It's also 1.5 bath, with the shower bath opening directly into the smaller bedroom. Again, just know your roommates and it's perfect. A terrific place! Thanks, Diedra!
