BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A light southeast breeze combined with an approaching warm front will lead to mostly cloudy skies over the region today. Temperatures today will be mainly in the low to mid-60s. A few upper 50s will be possible over northern and western areas. Much needed rain will spread west to east across the state tonight... mainly after midnight... as low pressure approaches. Temperatures tonight will bottom out in the upper 40s to low 50s for nighttime lows.

Low pressure will be working its way towards Maine from Western Quebec during the day Thursday. This will bring us periods of rain throughout the day... some of which could be heavy at times. The combination of the clouds and the rain will make for a cool day Thursday with most locales only reaching the mid to upper 50s for highs. The steadier rain will taper to scattered showers from west to east Thursday night as low pressure passes through the state. Scattered showers will still be possible Friday morning followed by drier and brighter weather moving in Friday afternoon. Overall rainfall totals from Wednesday night through Friday morning will range from .75″ to 1.5″ with locally higher amounts possible. High temperatures on Friday will top off in the 60s. High pressure building in this weekend... will bring us some fantastic fall weather with sunshine and highs in the 60s to near 70°.
