HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) -Redstone Arsenal is already on track to break a record number of gun violations on the post in 2025.

Since the start of the fiscal year on October 1, 29 guns were found illegally on the installation. That’s already on track to pass 2024’s record number of 45.

Leaders on the Arsenal say this has to do with increased security.

Just a reminder, state-issued carry concealed weapon permits are not valid on Redstone Arsenal. This means that if police find probable cause and find you with a weapon, you could be arrested.

“I think we’re just more active in looking for them because we have seen that the people who have brought them on have kind of a negligence,” Corporal Erin Eike, the Garrison said. “And just ensuring that we’re following the rules and regulations.”

“Obviously you can be found guilty, you can be imprisoned, you can have a monetary fine, you can lose your security clearance, which in turn could also cost you your job,” Major Derek Campbell, police operations on Redstone arsenal said.
