Man arrested for theft of property in Millbrook
A Millbrook man is in custody after police say he stole a woman’s purse out of her vehicle.
Millbrook Police Chief PK Johnson tells Action 8 News that officers responded to a business in the 2100 block of Main Street Friday after receiving a call that a theft occurred from a vehicle.
Once officers arrived, the female victim told them that she left her vehicle unsecured and went inside a business to make a purchase.
When she returned, she noticed that her purse had been stolen.
After viewing video surveillance, officers noticed a male suspect, who was standing near the roadway adjacent to the business, make entry into the victim’s vehicle and remove the victim’s purse, then fled the scene.
Officers viewing the video recognized the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Kison Tymes. Chief Johnson said Tymes lives in the area where the theft occurred.
Shortly after the offense occurred, an officer noticed leaving the suspect’s home. Police say the suspect was wearing the same clothing as what was in the surveillance video.
Officers later took Tymes into custody. Chief Johnson said Tymes also was wanted on active misdemeanor warrants by the Millbrook Municipal Court.
Officers were able to locate several items, including the victim’s purse.
Tymes has been charged with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle and two counts of 3rd Theft of Property.
He is currently in the Elmore County Jail.
