1. Aberystwyth promenade

A seafront favourite for tourists who visit the area, the promenade can be enjoyed during a sunset at dusk during the summer or in the autumn and winter when the magnificent starling murmuration takes place.

Around 2km long, the walk starts at the foot of Constitution Hill all the way to the harbour front.

2. Llanerchaeron, Aberaeron

This National Trust site is a very popular walk and cycle route which follows the river Aeron from the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron.

3. Ynyslas beach, Borth

The Ynyslas beach walk is as close to beach perfection as you can get with golden sands, rich blue water and beautiful surrounding views. Look out for the ancient submerged forest and the iconic sand dunes.

4. Hafod Gentleman's Walk

Cavern Cascade

One of the routes created by 18th century MP and adventurer Thomas Johnes, the Gentleman's Walk is a celebrated ''Picturesque' circuit that starts at Alpine Bridge, passes through wild scenery and branches into the Cavern Cascade.

5. New Quay to Cwmtydu

The coastal path between New Quay and Cwmtydu has a mix of everything that's great about an outdoor walk. Absolutely gorgeous views of the seaside town and a mixture of quaint flora and fauna.

Look out for Bird Rock along the way, a great place to spot dolphins - so take some binoculours.

6. Boardwalk on Cors Caron

It looks like the African Savannah, with plains of tall golden grass and lurid undergrowth. Unlike the bright coastal walks nearby, Cors Caron has a unique character for those looking for slightly different outdoor surroundings to enjoy.

With easy access to the heart of the 'red bog' of the Teifi, there is a bird hide if you want to see some wildlife.

7. Devil's Bridge circular walk

Start at Devil's Bridge and finish at the Vale of Rheidol railway station for a walk through open fields, woodland trails and three lovely river crossings. It's a fairly long one, around three hours or so, so best take a rucksack with refreshments.

8. The Arch

There are multiple routes you can take to walk under the famous arch in Ceredigion which was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of George III. A popular circular trail takes you through the woodland.

This is a walk though that requires reasonable fitness levels as there are some fairly steep inclines. Either way, there is a great picnic spot nearby for the beginning or end of the trek.

9. Spirit of the miners walk in Cwmsymlog

Eagle eyed viewers of the show may have spotted that this is a location used on the BBC's crime series Hinterland. You can expect to see some fine views of Aberystwyth and Pendinas which comes as a great reward at the end of the walk.

10. Borth to Talybont

Rising over gentle hills and pastures, this walk with very Welsh views is suitable for most family members.

A nice section of this walk will take you alongside the Dyfi Estuary.

11. Ceredigion coast from Llangrannog towards Ynys Lochtyn

With various routes to take, from huge stretches of straight treks to modest circular walks with stunning views, this is one of the most spectacular sections of the coast path.

Dog walkers will be pleased to know that there are multiple opportunities to let your pooch off the lead including pet-friendly sections of Llangranog beach and Pigeonsford woods.

12. Aberporth

An accessible walk for all with rather splendid views overlooking quiet coves, caves and cliff sides. It's perfect for dolphin spotting and enjoying a picnic on one of the many benches on the route.

If you want to see a beach waterfall, be sure to continue on the walk towards Tresiath.
